Rust Repair That Actually Cures It

Rust does not stop because you cannot see it. Bubbling paint on a sill or arch is usually the tip of something bigger underneath, and skimming filler over it just buries the problem for a year. Proper car rust repair means cutting the rot out until you reach bright metal, welding in fresh steel shaped to match, and finishing the repair so it disappears.

We repair and replace sills, wheel arches, floors, valances and complete panels on classics, modern metal and everything between. Every repair gets rust treatment and cavity protection behind it, because the repair you cannot see failing again is the one done right the first time.

How Your Repair Comes Together

  1. Honest inspection. We probe the suspect areas properly, then show you photos of what is actually there, not just what the paint suggests.
  2. Cut back to clean. The rot comes out until we reach solid, bright metal. However far that goes, patching over rust is not a thing here.
  3. Fresh steel in. Repair sections shaped and welded in with proper penetration, dressed back so the repair vanishes into the panel.
  4. Protect the metal. Etch primer, seam sealer, rust treatment and cavity wax in the hidden sections, so the new steel stays new.
  5. Finish & blend. Primer, colour and blend into the surrounding panels, matched properly so the repair is invisible inside and out.

Rust Repair FAQs

How much does car rust repair cost?

It depends on how far the rust has travelled. A single small patch is a quick job, a full sill with an inner section is a bigger one, and hidden rot found under trim adds to it. We inspect first, show you photos and quote honestly before any cutting starts.

Can rust be repaired permanently?

Yes, when it is cut out completely and replaced with new steel that is then sealed and protected. What does not work is grinding the surface and filling over it, which is why those repairs bubble again within a couple of years.

Will rust repairs get my car through an MOT?

Structural rust within 30cm of seatbelt mountings, suspension or steering points is an MOT failure, and those are exactly the repairs we do to a welded, structural standard. Cosmetic rust will not fail an MOT, but it never gets cheaper to fix by waiting.

Is my car too far gone to save?

Very few cars are genuinely beyond saving, it is a question of budget versus value, financial or sentimental. We will tell you straight what the metal needs, what it will cost and whether we think it is worth it.

Do you use genuine repair panels?

Where good repair panels exist we use them, and where they do not, or the quality is poor, we fabricate sections in-house. Either way the fit and the steel gauge are checked before anything is welded to your car.
