You can spend a fortune on paint and still have a car that looks unfinished, because dull, pitted brightwork drags the whole thing down. Trim is the jewellery of a classic, and getting it right is proper craft: knowing what should be rechromed, what is stainless that just needs cutting back and polishing, and what is anodised alloy that will be ruined by the wrong process.

We manage the whole job in-house and with trusted specialist platers we have used for years: bumpers, grilles, handles and mazak parts stripped, repaired and rechromed, stainless and alloy trim dent-rolled and mirror polished, and badges, glass seals and clips renewed so the details match the paint.

How Your Brightwork Comes Together

  1. Catalogue & assess. Every piece off the car, logged and inspected. We tell you what is chrome, stainless or alloy and what each one needs.
  2. Repair first. Dents rolled out, splits welded, pitting filed back and mazak stabilised. Plating over damage just gives you shiny damage.
  3. Plate & polish. Chrome parts through the full strip, copper, nickel, chrome process. Stainless and alloy cut back and polished in-house.
  4. Fit & align. Refitted with new clips, seals and fixings, gapped and aligned so every piece sits tight and straight against fresh paint.
  5. Final detail. The whole car checked over, brightwork sealed and a care sheet handed over so the shine stays that way.

How much does rechroming cost?

Rechroming is priced per piece and depends on size and condition, because most of the cost is the repair and preparation before plating. A pitted bumper takes far more work than a straight one. Send us photos of the parts and we will price the lot honestly.

Is my trim chrome or stainless steel?

A magnet and a trained eye sort it quickly: much classic trim is actually stainless or anodised alloy, which does not need plating at all, just skilled straightening and polishing. That is usually the cheaper and better route, and we will tell you which is which.

Can pitted chrome be restored?

Yes. The old plating is chemically stripped, the pitting is filed and polished out of the base metal, then copper is built up before nickel and chrome go on. Deep pitting takes more copper work, which is why condition drives the price.

Can you repair mazak and die-cast parts?

Mazak is the trickiest material in brightwork, but most parts can be stabilised, repaired and replated by the specialist platers we work with. Genuinely crumbling parts are assessed honestly, sometimes a good used part is the smarter buy, and we will say so.

Do you do complete brightwork packages for restorations?

That is our favourite way to do it. The whole car’s trim catalogued, restored and refitted as one managed job, timed to land as the paint is finished, so the car comes together in one hit.
