light up the trail
Auxiliary Lighting & Electrics
4×4 lighting and auxiliary electrics in Scunthorpe. Light bars, spot lights and dual battery systems wired in properly and fused right, by the MDK crew.
4×4 Lighting & Electrics, Wired To Last
Off-road lighting and auxiliary electrics live or die on the wiring behind them. A light bar on a cheap loom and a cigarette-lighter tap will flicker, blow fuses and let you down in the dark. At Mad Dogg Kustoms every light bar, spot lamp and accessory is relayed, fused and loomed like the factory would, so it works reliably miles from anywhere, not just on the drive.
We fit spot lights, LED light bars, work lights and rock lights, plus the electrical backbone to run them: dual battery systems, split chargers, isolators, fuse boxes and switch panels. Overland rigs, working trucks and weekend green-laners all leave with power they can trust and lighting that turns night into day.

How Your Install Comes Together
- What you run. Lights, fridge, winch, compressor. We total up the load first so the battery, charging and wiring are specced to cope.
- Plan the loom. Circuits, relays, fusing and switch layout drawn before a panel comes off, so power and earths are right first time.
- Mount & wire. Lights and gear mounted solid, looms run and sleeved on strong routes, nothing draped over hot or moving parts.
- Battery & charging. Dual battery, split charger and isolator fitted so auxiliary loads never touch the starter battery.
- Test & hand over. Every circuit tested, aimed and labelled, then walked through so you know what each switch does.
Lighting & Electrics FAQs
Why not just wire a light bar straight to the battery?
Because that is how you melt looms, blow fuses and drain batteries. Proper installs use a relay so the switch only carries a small current, plus correct fusing to protect the wiring. It is the difference between lights that last and a fire risk.
Do I need a dual battery system?
If you run a fridge, lights or a winch when the engine is off, yes. A second battery with a split charger keeps your accessories powered while protecting the starter battery, so you never get stranded with a flat vehicle.
Are extra driving lights road legal?
They can be, but there are rules on how many, their position and when they can be used, and most must be wired to only work with main beam. We fit and wire auxiliary lights to comply so you stay the right side of the law.
Can you add USB and 12V points around the vehicle?
Easily. Cab, load bay, drawers and camp areas can all have fused USB and 12V outlets added, run from the right supply so they are handy without being a drain or a hazard.
Will all this wiring affect my warranty or electrics?
Done properly, auxiliary circuits are isolated and fused so they do not interfere with the vehicle systems. We tap cleanly, never butcher the factory loom, and label everything for the future.
