4×4 Suspension That Works On And Off Road

A lift kit is not just about looking the part. Get the 4×4 suspension right and the truck rides better loaded, tows straighter, clears bigger tyres and actually copes with a green lane instead of crashing through it. Get it wrong and you have a bouncy, twitchy money pit. At Mad Dogg Kustoms we spec and fit suspension around how you actually use the vehicle, not just how tall you want it.

We fit everything from mild levelling kits and heavy-duty springs for a loaded overlander to full lift kits with matched shocks, longer brake lines and corrected geometry. Daily drivers, tow rigs and serious expedition trucks all leave set up properly and driving as well as they look.

How Your Suspension Comes Together

  1. Use & goals. Green laning, overlanding, towing or daily driving. We build the spec around load and terrain, not just ride height.
  2. Spec the kit. Springs, shocks and lift matched to your vehicle, tyres and weight, with the supporting parts priced in from the start.
  3. Fit & correct. Kit fitted with longer brake lines, extended bump stops and steering correction where the lift calls for it.
  4. Geometry & alignment. Camber, castor and tracking reset for the new height, so the truck tracks true and wears tyres evenly.
  5. Load test & hand over. Checked loaded and unloaded, torqued and road tested, then handed back set up for the way you drive.

Suspension & Lift FAQs

How much does a 4×4 lift kit cost?

It depends on the vehicle, how much lift you want and whether it is a simple spring kit or a full matched setup with shocks, brake lines and geometry correction. Tell us the truck and what you use it for and we will spec and price it honestly.

Will a lift kit affect how my 4×4 drives on the road?

Done properly, a good kit can actually improve on-road manners under load. Done cheaply, it can make the truck bouncy and vague. The difference is matched components and a proper geometry setup afterwards, which is exactly how we fit them.

How big a tyre can I fit with a lift?

That depends on the vehicle, the lift height and the wheel offset. We work the tyre size, lift and any arch or bump-stop work out together so you get clean clearance with no rubbing, rather than guessing and grinding later.

Do I need to tell my insurer about a lift kit?

Yes, a lift and larger tyres are modifications and must be declared. Plenty of specialist insurers cover modified 4x4s sensibly, and we can provide a spec sheet of exactly what was fitted.

Is a lifted 4×4 still MOT legal?

A properly fitted lift with correct brake lines, working geometry and aimed headlights passes fine. Bodged lifts that stretch brake lines or wreck the steering angles are what fail, which is precisely what we avoid.
