How Your System Comes Together
- Power audit. What you run: fridge, lights, heating, laptops. We total the daily draw so the battery, solar and charging are sized to cope.
- Design the system. Battery type, solar, charging and inverter chosen and drawn as one system, with the right cable and fusing throughout.
- Install & loom. Batteries, panels and gear mounted solid, looms run and sleeved, everything fused and protected as it should be.
- Charge & balance. Solar, DC-DC and hook-up charging set up and balanced, with monitoring so you can see exactly what you have.
- Test & explain. Every circuit tested and labelled, then walked through so you understand and trust your own system.
Electrics & Solar FAQs
How much solar and battery do I need?
It depends on what you run and for how long between charges. A weekender with lights and a fridge needs far less than a full-time off-grid rig with heating and devices. We do a power audit first and size the system to your real use, not guesswork.
Lithium or leisure battery, which is better?
Lithium banks are lighter, last longer and give more usable capacity, but cost more upfront. Traditional leisure batteries are cheaper but heavier and shorter-lived. We will weigh it up for your budget and how hard you use the van.
Can I run a fridge and devices off-grid?
Absolutely, with a system sized for it. The right battery charged by solar and your alternator will run a compressor fridge, lights and device charging for days. Add hook-up and an inverter for mains kit when you need it.
Is a DIY camper electrical system safe?
Camper electrics involve real currents and, done badly, are a genuine fire risk. Correct cable sizing, fusing and battery protection are essential. We design and fit to a safe standard and can put right dodgy existing installs.
Can you upgrade my existing setup?
Yes. We add solar, swap to lithium, uprate charging or fix and re-fuse a previous install, so your van does more without the risks of a poorly wired system.
