Remapping & Tuning FAQs
What does a stage 1 remap actually do?
A stage 1 remap recalibrates the ECU software within the safe limits of a standard engine. Typical gains are around 20 to 30 percent more power and torque on turbocharged engines, with smoother delivery and often better economy on a steady cruise. No hardware changes are needed.
Will remapping damage my engine?
Not when it is done properly on a healthy engine. That is why we health check every car before tuning and write calibrations for your exact engine rather than flashing a generic file. A bad map from a laptop cowboy is a different story, which is exactly what we are not.
Do I need to tell my insurance about a remap?
Yes. A remap is a modification and insurers expect to be told, the same as wheels or suspension changes. Plenty of specialist insurers cover modified cars at sensible money, and we are happy to provide a spec sheet for them.
What is the difference between stage 1 and stage 2?
Stage 1 is software only, tuned within the limits of standard hardware. Stage 2 pairs the software with supporting mods, usually a performance exhaust or downpipe and a better intake, unlocking bigger gains. We will tell you honestly which one suits your car and budget.
How long does a remap take?
Most remaps are done in a day, including the health check and road testing with datalogs. Bigger packages with hardware fitting take longer, and we will give you a clear timeline with the quote.
