A nut and bolt restoration means exactly that: the whole car stripped to a bare shell, every component removed, catalogued and photographed, then everything rebuilt, refinished or replaced before it all goes back together. It is the deepest restoration there is, and it is the difference between a car that looks restored and one that genuinely is, underneath as well as on top.
As classic car restorers we take on everything from solid drivers that deserve doing right to barn find revivals that have not turned a wheel in decades. You get a photographed record of the whole build, honest updates as it moves through the workshop, and a car that is better than it left the factory.

The bare shell repaired, straightened and painted properly, inside, outside and underneath. The foundation everything else bolts to.

Engine, gearbox, axles, brakes and suspension rebuilt to spec while the shell is away, so the car goes back together as one job.

Trim & Final Assembly
Fresh brightwork, retrimmed interior and careful reassembly with new fixings. The last ten percent that takes half the patience.

How Your Rebuild Comes Together
- Assessment & plan. We go through the car together, agree what the goal is, from honest driver to concours, and map the budget in stages.
- Strip & catalogue. Every part off, bagged, tagged and photographed. The shell goes for blasting so we can see exactly what we are working with.
- Shell & bodywork. Rot cut out, fresh metal in, panels fitted and gapped, then paint inside and out to the standard the car deserves.
- Mechanical rebuild. Engine, drivetrain, brakes, suspension and wiring rebuilt or renewed while the paint cures. Everything proven on the bench first.
- Assembly & shakedown. The car goes back together with new fixings and seals, then gets road miles and re-checks before handover with its full build file.

It depends entirely on the car, its condition and the standard you want. A full nut and bolt restoration is measured in hundreds of hours, so it is a serious investment, and we quote it in staged, honest chunks rather than one scary number. Bring us the car and we will assess it straight.
How long does a full car restoration take?
Most full rebuilds run from several months to a year or more depending on parts availability and the amount of fabrication needed. You get a realistic timeline up front and photo updates as the car moves through each stage.
Is my car worth restoring?
That depends on what it is worth to you as much as the market. Some cars owe you nothing sentimentally and everything financially, others the reverse. We will give you an honest assessment of the metal, the costs and the end value before you commit to anything.
Can you restore a barn find that has not run in years?
Yes, barn find revivals are some of our favourite jobs. We start with careful recommissioning and assessment rather than diving straight in, so you find out what the car actually needs before deciding how far to go.
Do I get a record of the work?
Every nut and bolt rebuild leaves with a photographed build file covering the strip-down, the repairs and the reassembly. It proves the quality of what is underneath and adds real value when the car changes hands.
